Last April 7, a monday, I was informed by Ms. Johanna Kirsten Lagman, producer of Mandala Productions that she submitted my photos to her client, a gasoline company for a photo audition. The following day, I got another text from her requesting if I could see her on Thursday for a photo session. She said that her client wanted new photos of mine wearing specified colors of long sleeves polo shirts for a final look for them to decide who they would choose to model for their product from among the final line up.
I went to see Johanna at 6:00 p.m. last Thursday, April 10. Originally, we set the photo shot at Pier One inside The Fort. However, at the last minute she texted me she changed the venue, it would be at Bayani Grill along Bayani Avenue inside the Fort. She texted me to proceed to Pier One and to text me once I am there so she would have me fetched by her staff. I took a look at the map of the area, but I could not find Bayani Avenue. I decided to park in front of S & R Membership Shopping, fronting the on-going construction work of St. Luke’s Hospital and waited for Johanna’s staff to fetch me.
The staff finally arrived after 30 minutes and led me to the location of Bayani Grill. It is not inside the Fort proper, but inside FortBonifacio, at the back of the AmericanCemetery.
Johanna made me relax before the photo session. I asked for a bottle of San Mig light when she asked what I want. She told me she had to change the venue since Pier One will open at 8:00 p.m. yet. After a few minutes, we had the photo session.
After the photo session, I had my second bottle of San Mig light for a small talk with Johanna and the rest of the finalists. I learned from Johanna that she kept on file the photos that I sent to her a year ago when she posted a notice for a photo audition for Caucasian-looking males. I had the courage to send to her my photos although I remembered telling her then that I am more of an Indian-looking rather than Caucasian, although some of close friends insist that I am Spanish mestizo! Her requirement for Caucasian-looking males was for a European film outfit that shot a film here last year.
I mentioned that to stress a point so that other artists like me out there should not hesitate to respond to similar calls or auditions that would come our way. Imagine, I sent my photos a year ago and all of a sudden, it was picked for another photo audition!
Thanks God! Yesterday, while I was driving home, I got a text from Johanna that the client, a gasoline company had finally chosen me. I will have a costume fit this afternoon and the pictorial will be next week!
