“I Got the Gasoline Station Commercial!”

Egay Sandalo -

Last April 7, a monday, I was informed by Ms. Johanna Kirsten Lagman, producer of Mandala Productions that she submitted my photos to her client, a gasoline company for a photo audition. The following day, I  got another text from her requesting if I could see her on Thursday for a photo session.  She said that her client wanted new photos of mine wearing specified colors of long sleeves polo shirts for a final look for them to decide who they would choose to model for their product from among the final line up.

“At Last, Yahoo search now recognizes this blogsite!”

Egay Sandalo -
When my cousin Grace finally launched this  blogsite in the internet last February, the google search engine immediately recognized it. Hey wait! But, those of you who would be reading my postings for the first time may not understand me and would simply stop reading this article. I do not want that to happen. So, my apologies to all of you who had been reading my articles before, I beg for your understanding. I need to give some useful background information for me to do some “leveling of knowledge” with my first time readers as trainors  call it during trainings, workshops and seminars among their participants with mixed background.

In 2004, when my sister Atty. Dorothy M. Sandalo-Cajayon invited me to write articles for  a column in their newspaper the Zamboanga Peninsula Journal I decided to baptize my column as “Between Takes”. The name implies that my column would be  touching on the actual happenings on the sets of the TV and movie productions that I would be participating in as a character actor. Between takes, that is, between the actual tapings or shootings of scenes, people in the production would invariably interact, talk, quarrel, have tantrums and what have you. This column would be about my personally account on my experiences with everybody on the set including not only the stars but even the production staff  between takes on the set.

Aside from publishing my articles in my column in Zamboanga Peninsula Journal, I made it a point to post these articles from time to time in the yahoogroups that I belong to. Yahoogroups are some sort of a club in the internet that exclusive members would be exchanging posts, articles, letters, and from time to time would be quarrelling over issues when the members would have conflicting views.

One of the yahoogroup that I belong is our kasins_klab [at] yahoogroups [dot] com  which is an exclusive membership  among us cousins in our mother side  – the Ong Oh – Libre Clan of Cabadbaran, Agusan del Norte.  A cousin, Grace happens to be a professional information technology practitioner offered that she will construct a blogsite for me for my articles. In simple words, it is like a section in your school or office library where all my articles are located such that anybody interested to read my articles, would simply type the name of my blog site in the internet search engine for him to gain entry into my blog the way that he would ask the librarian where that section of the library where my articles are located.

There are many search engines (your librarians) that are available in the internet. Google search immediately recognized my blogsite when my cousin Grace launched it in early February this year. But, it took yahoo search almost three months to recognize my blogsite! Yesterday, when I tried to search my blogsite using yahoo search engine, I was so glad that finally it has an entry of my blogsite: www.inbetweentakes.com!

“Copyrighting a Theatre Play”

Egay Sandalo -

When  fraternity brother Manuel M. Martell ’47 generously gave his consent for the Upsilon Sigma Phi Los Banos Alumni Association, Inc. (USPLBAAI) to publish his four theatre plays as a fund raising activity, the USPLBAAI, requested me to communicate with brod Mart for him to formalize his consent. A few weeks after I e-mailed brod Mart about it, I picked up a package from Johnny Air Cargo Inc. in SM Mega Mall from him. It  contained a red-ribboned acknowledgement of the Consulate General of the Philippines based in New York of a Special Power of Attorney appointing me as brod Mart’s  representative. As such, in his own handwriting, I am authorized to publish  and market his theatre plays into a book and to apply for copyright of the plays with the appropriate Philippine government agencies.
