“Getting a Booking by Tita Angge”

            My youngest daughter, Purita reminded me that the life story of Tita Angge was featured in “Maalaala Mo Kaya”  a few years ago. This was her reaction when I was ecstatic to receive a text message from Amie who claimed that she is with the staff of Tita Angge. Tita Angge in the Philippine showbiz is Cornelia Lee. If you are an avid tv and movie follower, Tita Angge needs no further introduction. You must have at least heard her name. For the sake of my readers who have not heard about Tita Angge, let me describe her this way: she is a top caliber talent manager that any striving showbiz wannabee would long to at least meet her hoping to get a booking by Tita Angge. Getting a booking by Tita Angge is in a way an honor, a status symbol, a source of pride! Why? Because Tita Angge, from what I heard about her from co-actors is well-connected with those who have the say in the industry. The list of talents that she handles include Eula Valdez, Bayani Agbayani, Lot lot de Leon, John Arcilla, Sylvia Sanchez and Smokey Manaloto to name a few.

 
            So it was indeed a big deal when I got a text message from Amie who asked if I am available on May 16, 19, 22, 24, 27 and 29 for two to three days taping for “Your Song”. I answered yes and asked who she is. Amie replied that she is working for Tita Angge! She then asked my address and my Talent Fee with ABS-CBN. You see, “Your Song” is a once a week (every Sunday, after ASAP) soap opera that runs for a month (four Sundays). It deals on a popular song as its story line.
 
            I gave her my address and my talent fee with ABS-CBN. Amie texted again and confirmed that Tita Angge had booked me and that the taping schedules and locations will be relayed to me later.  It will be two to three days.
 
            I am very much excited to work on this new assignment mainly because it will be my first project that the booking was made by Tita Angge. I hope that my expectations with this new assignment will become a reality. Yes, I have several expectations with this first assignment booked by Tita Angge. First is based on what I learned that Tita Angge usually gets the supporting roles of the stories and not the bit roles. I hope that I will get a good supporting role this time. Second, I hope that this will be the beginning of a new booking arrangement with Tita Angge for more meaty roles and good exposure for me. Third, and the least important expectation is the hope for a higher talent fee of course!
 
            Last night, Bombee (Rhoda Joy Blaza), a friend and who is an Assistant Director of ABS-CBN texted me. We had worked together for several projects notably with “Sana  Wala Nang Wakas” and “Maria Flordeluna”. I made a reality check with my expectations on having been booked by Tita Angge for the first time. Likewise, I asked Bombee if she would have an idea who could have given my contact number to Tita Angge. I wanted to know so that I could say thank you to whoever is that kind-hearted person.  For my first query on my expectations, Bombee did not give me a categorical  confirmation that there will be a good chance of meeting my expectations but she noted that at least Tita Angge knows me already.  For my second query, she told me, she could easily ask around who could that kind-hearted person be.
 
            This early, I say thank you whoever you are for giving my contact number to Tita Angge.
