Last May 1, being a holiday, I woke up at 6:30 a.m. Not my usual waking up time during regular working days. But just like the first thing that I usually do when I wake up, I picked up my cellular phones to check if I have text messages or missed calls. Both cellular phones did not have a single text message during my sleep. I had a missed call though in my Globe phone. It was from Ces Aldaba, a Talent Supplier who had booked me before as Dina Bonnevie’s father in Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita. It registered that he made the call at 12:30 a.m.
I texted Ces to ask him why he called up in such an unholy hour! In a few minutes Ces texted back that he called me because he wanted to book me for a role in Dyesebel. I texted back with all my excitement to ask if it was a go or no go. Ces informed me that when he was not able to talk to me, he did not pursue to look for another talent. He told me that it was already very too late since the production staff wanted the talent to be on the set at 8:00 that morning and the location was supposed to be in Tagaytay! He was given less than 8 hours to look for a talent who should be a mestizo, about 50 years old to play the role of Bianca King’s father.
It was a good role to miss! But, I consoled myself that it was not really intended to be mine because first, the location was in Tagaytay. As such, it is far, and with gasoline prices going up like crazy, it’s a losing venture. Second, it is not easy to travel to Tagaytay because of the on-going construction works on the South Luzon Expressway. I know that there will still be roles in Dyesebel that will be offered to me! I just hope it will not be as a “syokoy”!
Frankly, I am very much eager to be in Dyesebel! I watched the replay last Sunday which was being aired I guess for two reasons: first there was a massive brown out in some parts of Metro Manila when it had its premier airing last April 26. Second, there was a Dela Joya boxing bout in ABS-CBN channel 2 and replaying the first day episode of Dyesebel had given the boxing a good competition! Having watched the replay, I found the reasons why it got a rating of 43%!
It could have been a good timing if I was booked for Dyesebel last May 1 because it was a holiday. But, since it did not materialize, I brought the family to the movies.
We went to the Mall of Asia. We had a very crucial decision to make when we reached the cinema: to watch “Ploning” or “When Love Begins”. I wanted to watch Ploning but I was outvoted: we watched When Love Begins! We were satisfied with it specially so since part of the movie was shot in Boracay. But, I will really find time to watch Ploning before it will finish its Metro Manila run!
