“Your Song” Got A Rating of 12.7%

While most of the televiewers usually take their nap on Sunday afternoon, a good number still watch tv shows. Last Sunday, June 8, “Your Song” got a rating of 12. 7% while the shows of GMA channel 7 on same time slot, Pinoy Idol Extra got only 8.1% and Tasya Fantasya got only 8.4%. The time slot is 2:45 to 3:45 p.m.

The episode of “Your Song” is the second installment of “I’ll Take Care of You” which topbills Wendy Valdez, TJ Trinidad, Zanjoe Marudo and Angelica Panganiban. Also in the cast are veteran Ramil Rodriguez, child actor Jairus Aquino and yours truly where I play as the attending doctor of Wendy Valdez and TJ Trinidad.

The rating that the show got was decent enough considering that the time slot is not really prime time. In the late 70’s and 80’s, for this time slot, I remember only one show that was able to draw large number of viewers and became a top rated show – “Lovingly Yours, Helen” of the late Ms. Helen Vela. In fact, the show was able to make Dra. Vivian Foz and Manjo del Mundo popular for appearing regularly on it. I should know, I was an avid viewer of that show!

Your Song’s 12.7% rating is enough indication that it is indeed a popular Sunday afternoon show.

This Sunday, 15 June, Father’s Day, the show will definitely have a good competitor: the malls and the restaurants! I am sure that lot of families will be going to the malls and the restaurants to celebrate Father’s Day!

The episode this Sunday, will open with my scene with Zanjoe Marudo and Angelica Panganiban. It is the scene right after I emerged from the Emergency Room and I will give updates on the condition of the car accident victims – Wendy and TJ. I will have more scenes after the opening scene.

I was really delighted to see my name in the Opening Bill Board Credits (OBB) last Sunday! The billing started with Wendy, TJ, Zanjoe, Ramil,  Jairus, myself and Angelica! You see, in the prime time telenovelas, there is usually a standard OBB format which would include the billing of the names of the big stars only! But in the case of “Your Song” this is the second time that they have placed my name in the OBB. The first time was when I played Doctor of Jake Cuenca where he starred with Roxanne Guinoo in an episode directed by Direk Jerry Lopez Sineneng.

To Direk Trina Dayrit, Tita Mae Santos, Beegee Soldao, Bella, Raquel and the rest of the Production Staff – Maraming Salamat for placing my name in the credits!

To all of you who belong to the 12.7% of the viewers, I hope that on Sunday, and the rest of the Sundays of June, you will continue to watch “Your Song” even if it would mean skipping your much needed Sunday nap!
