My string of blessings for the lucky month of August continued with me playing dad to a Viva Hotbabe! Yes, I was so excited to be on the set when Bong, the Talent Coordinator of National Broadcasting Network (NBN) Channel 4’s “Count Your Blessings” when I learned that I would be playing dad to a Viva Hotbabe – Jennifer Lee. Jennifer was recently a contestant in the Hep Hep Horray game portion of the popular noontime show “Wowowee”.

The episode that we taped last Sunday, 17 August was titled “Ransom”. The plot is simple: we are a rich family and my daughter is very religious. She teaches religion in slum areas making her an easy kidnap target. The story shows how a family of a kidnap victim acted faced with the dilemma.

Having a Viva Hotbabe for a daughter seems to be a lucky strike in itself but my streak of luck continued with having yet another Viva Hotbabe for a “kaeksena” for many scenes! Yes, when my daughter was already in the hands of the kidnappers, her best friend kept me and my wife company as we negotiated with the kidnappers. Playing my daughther’s best friend is Viva Hotbabe Anna Scott. Anna had appeared as a Professor  in GMA 7’s  Joaquin Bordado.

Completing the cast is Ms. Kata Crisologo who played as my wife. Kata is an aunt of Aiko Melendez. I could not ask for more! I was surrounded with beautiful ladies all throughout the taping!

“Count Your Blessings” is a weekly show which  airs Mondays to Fridays, 5:00 to 5:30 p.m. on NBN Channel 4. One episode is shown for the entire week.

On the more serious aspect of the show, its message is simply that the public must trust our law enforcers particularly the National Bureau of Investigation. I have few friends who are NBI agents and personally I must admit that I have full trust in their capabilities to fight criminality. Lately, that confidence that I have in the NBI, is also slowly building up as far as  the Philippine National Police particularly the Quezon City Police Department.   I personally saw for myself how the QCPD is regularly upgrading their  crime fighting skills through actual training. I always see them training inside Camp Karingal everytime I visit the firing range inside the camp for target shooting. The large parade ground of Camp Karingal is the training area for the QCPD police force.

One time, I witnessed how the elements of the QCPD conducted a training on how to handle a kidnapping scenario. A Ford Expedition was used as the vehicle of a target for kidnapping. As is ran full speed, it was blocked by a bantam car with heavily armed men on board. Just as the kidnappers were about to leave, another vehicle with full battle gear police operatives arrived and a car chase followed inside the parade grounds. The training ended with the police able to neutralize the kidnappers!

While our law enforcers are continuously upgrading their crimebusting capabilities, we, as ordinary citizens should give them our full trust and confidence. With the full support from the citizenry on our law enforcers, the fight against criminality will become a lot easier. This is the message of the episode titled “Ransom” of “Count Your Blessings” which will be aired this September on NBN Channel 4.
