When I went back to the location of “Kolorete” for another shooting, Althea was already there. I told her what I learned from Beth that her project is a bold movie! Althea then started telling me about her project with Direk Joel Lamangan.
A few days later, she texted me if she can visit me at my office. I told her to come during our lunch break. This reminded me of another new friend in our Philippine Cinema YahooGroup who commented that it would be better if I just have to concentrate with my work at SSS. I simply smiled with the thought that there are still a lot of people who have not heard of multi-tasking. Or of multi-talented individuals. Or if they are aware of it, they are simply inept to do a paradism shift. There are people who are still leaving in the world of compartmentalized (de-cajon) line of thinking that a mason will have to forever be well, a mason! By the way, I have to comply an office requirement for me to have my “raket” with the showbiz. Any SSS staff who intends to perform outside office work is required to apply for permission to perform after office jobs and must get corresponding management approval which we renew every year. For the record, I never use a single minute of my official time for my raket. It is a requirement that I will only do my raket after office hours and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Althea arrived at my office at 12:00 noon. She told me that at 2:00 p.m. that day, she will have her first press conference for the movie where she will be introduced. It is an indie film produced by Direk Manny Valera under his DMV Entertainment titled “Walang Kawala”. She plays an OCW wife of Polo Ravales. She asked for pointers on what to do in her press con. I helped her by giving her possible questions that the press would be asking and gave her guides on how to answer these questions. She was so down to earth during our tutoring session.
Few days after the press con, the tabloids and even the major dailies (Bulletin) have already been churning out press releases on Althea. I did a google search for her name: Althea Vera which was what she finally decided to be her screen name. It has already more than 10 entries on google. By the way, it is now a common practice among internet bugs to test how popular a personality is. Funny, but some of those who lambasted me in our Philippine Cinema yahoogroup on the Ara Mina rape scene do not even have a single entry on google search! It just dawned on me that in our Philippine Cinema yahoogroup we have a lot of members who are simple movie fans using aliases to cover their real identities. Of course, since they are using aliases, their real names will never have even a single entry in the google search. Oh, movie fans! Funny cute people that I respect a lot! I reminded Althea to be very careful in dealing with movie fans, they can be very nasty too! One who do not even have the guts to give his/her real identity even wanted me banned from the Philippine Cinema yahoogroup. When truth and in fact, just like a true blooded movie fan, he/she has been religiously reading all my postings as evidenced from his/her updated knowledge in everything that I write. That is why I respect their views on me. In the same way that I want my postings to be left unhampered. Hey, how about doing a google search on Edgar Sandalo?
As far as Althea Vega is concerned, this charming kayumanggi is very lucky. As DMV Entertainment is gearing up for a full blast media blitz, the focus of its efforts this early is Althea Vega. DMV is definitely spending a fortune to drum beat its first indie film “Walang Kawala” with Althea Vega as the signature persona. Even as the movie topbills Jean Garcia, Emilio Garcia, Polo Ravales and Joseph Bitangol, it is Althea Vega who is taking the lion’s share in the publicity game.
Am I seeing another star in the making? I am keeping my fingers crossed as I place my bet on Althea Vega to become another significant name in the industry. Wait till the movie “Walang Kawala” opens in the commercial theaters soon.

ok bro, just take the negative comments from those funny cute movie fans with humble heart. They are just pinoy crabs. Remain to be a multi-faceted person. Being your kababayan, I am really proud of you to have reached that far. Continue to explore your talents. God bless!
Daghang Salamat day Flor! Hope you can watch me na sa “I love you, Betty La Fea” where I play as Philippine Embassy representative in London with Ai Ai delas Alas in the scenes.
