“May Bukas Pa: Mass Offered As Thanksgiving for Being the Number 1 Top Rated Show”
After three weeks of airing, ABS-CBN’s “MAY BUKAS PA” viewership rating nationwide based on TNS surveys is already hitting above 40%. In some areas in Mindanao, the viewership rating is above 50%.
I have mentioned that by way of expressing thanks for the untiring efforts of the staff, crew and cast, ABS-CBN hosted thanksgiving party last February 12 barely a week old then when the show was hitting 38% rating.
Last Sunday, 22 February 2009, the ABS-CBN through the production staff, cast and crew offered a Thanksgiving Mass as their way of expressing gratefulness to the God Almighty for the blessings that the show is receiving, as our way of saying thank you to our host, the residents of the town of Bacolor specifically the parishioners of San Guillermo Church led by its Parish Priest Jesus Manabat for allowing us the use of this sacred compound.

The town of Bacolor, Pampanga was celebrating its town fiesta with a five-day festivities starting February 7 till February 11. As a result, our tapings for May Bukas Pa during the fiesta were cancelled.
Instead of the usual text messages from Cath Magdael, Associate Producer advising us on the calltime for our taping, I got a text message from Ms. Hazel Parfan another Associate Producer inviting me to join the May Bukas Pa Thanksgiving Party at the Bagoong Club, 122 Scout Dr. Laczano St. Quezon City last night, February 10, 2009! I immediately texted back confirming that I will attend the party – my first ever showbiz gathering!

Last Saturday, we learned that several scenes taken in the cemetery at the back of San Guillermo Parish Church had to be retaped. While the retaping was going on, some of the “priests” including Andre Tiangco, Tony Manalo David Chua and myself were huddled outside our airconditioned tent and we were exchanging horror stories.

We have been taping for five straight days, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays for the religoserye “May Bukas Pa” in Bacolor, Pampanga. Tapings were so tiring until last Thursday when the two taping units had to give the “12 priests” some breathing space: a long waiting period starting at mid afternoon. There were scenes lined up with only Santino (Zianjan Jaranilla) and Bro Jesus (Love) in the cemetery for the first unit and scenes with Albert Martinez et al at the Mayor’s Mansion which did not have the priests in the scenes. Because of this, we were given some free time and we decided to go to SM Pampanga.
