“May Bukas Pa: Mass Offered As Thanksgiving for Being the Number 1 Top Rated Show”

    After three weeks of airing, ABS-CBN’s “MAY BUKAS PA” viewership rating nationwide based on TNS surveys is already hitting above 40%. In some areas in Mindanao, the viewership rating is above 50%.

    I have mentioned that by way of expressing thanks for the untiring efforts of the staff, crew and cast, ABS-CBN hosted thanksgiving party last February 12 barely a week old then when the show was hitting 38% rating.

    Last Sunday, 22 February 2009, the ABS-CBN through the production staff, cast and crew offered a Thanksgiving Mass as their way of expressing gratefulness to the God Almighty for the blessings that the show is receiving, as our way of saying thank you to our host, the residents of the town of Bacolor specifically the parishioners of San Guillermo Church led by its Parish Priest Jesus Manabat for allowing us the use of this sacred compound.

    Our Production Manager Ethel Espiritu was around to supervise the preparation for the mass. Hazel Parfan, our Associate Producer was busy asking for volunteers to do specific tasks for the mass.

    Nobody volunteered to be the mass commentator. I volunteered. I was briefed by the parish staff on my task, which to my mind will be my way of thanksgiving to the Lord for the personal blessings that I continuously received from Him. I recalled that our parish priest in Bulacan announced that interested parishioners who want to serve as commentators are required to attend the training at the diocese. Since I used to be active in the Couple for Christ, I had long contemplated to answer the call but had not actually attended the training.  I knew that in some parishes only  commentators who had undergone the training are made to be a mass commentator but  my pure intention of offering myself to the Lord prevailed. So, I was the mass commentator.

    The first reading was read by Jaime Fabregas, the second reading was read by Precious Lara Quigaman and finally the prayer of the faithful was led by Dominic Ochoa.

    The offerors included theAndre Tiangco, Ruben Gonzaga, Tonton Guitierrez, Lito Pimi with our Directors Jerome Chavez-Pobocan and Jojo A. Saquin offered the Host and the Chalice respectively.

    Our little boy superstar Zaijan Jaranilla attended the mass together with Arlene Muchlach, Ogie Diaz, David Chua, Badjie Mortiz, Robin Tolentino, our Executive Producer Rosselle Soldao, Associate Producer Catherine Grace Magdael, Production Assistants Karen Gail Gamboa and Ellese Frances Fernandez and Location Manager Len Gatus.

    The homily touched on the topic of the Jesus healing the bedridden which emphasized the importance of having faith in the Almighty Creator. Sounds familiar to what “May Bukas Pa” has been preaching!
