“Guesting for the First Time on ASAP ‘09″

When Rosselle Soldao (Beegee) and Hazel Parfan, our Executive Producers of “May Bukas Pa” both texted me similar text messages, the essence of which was that all of the 12 priests are required to appear on ASAP 09, I was so excited, rather ecstatic was the right operative word!
I had my personal reasons to feel ecstatic about appearing on ASAP 09. First and foremost was the fact the it was my first time, primero, una bez to appear in a live noon time show as a guest! The scenario put me back to my younger days, as teenager who was an avid fan of local actors and actresses. The very popular Sunday noontime show then was “Germspecial” with no less than Kuya Germs or German Moreno as the host. Everytime I watched Germspecial, I could not help but dreamed that someday, I will also be one of the actors who would be guesting in a popular noontime show!

DAVID CHUA’s first TV appearance was in “My Girl” as a fil-chinese brother of Alex Gonzaga. The top-rated show which was also under the helm of Direk Jerome Chavez-Pobocan paved the way for the viewing public’s recognition and the attention from ABS-CBN on David Chua.
This third year fine arts college student of University of Santo Tomas had to temporarily stop schooling in favor of a good exposure in the latest top-rated teleserye “May Bukas Pa”. In this second TV appearance of David Chua, he is playing the role of the monastery’s treasurer, giving him more significant exposure considering that there are 12 priests characters in the series.
When we were first introduced among ourselves, I noticed David Chua as a cool Chinese looking young man. He is a man of few words, yes, he talks less but if ever he talks, he is very soft-spoken

While playing movie bit roles in 2003, I had the chance to play as the father of Jennifer Sevilla in a movie titled “Kung Ako na lang Sana” starring Sharon Cuneta and Aga Muchlach. When I watched the movie, it was then that I came to know that Dominic Ochoa was playing a major role as the best friend of Aga in the movie.
We were together in said movie but we did not have the chance to work together. I did not have an inkling that time that I would be working with Dominic now in this top-rating show “May Bukas Pa”.
As Father Jose in the monastery, Dominic Ochoa is our cook and the father who is the most close to Santino since he acted as the parent who raised Santino from the moment that we adopted baby Santino.

Among my co-actors playing the roles of priests in “May Bukas Pa”, Jaime Fabregas is the first whom I had acted together in the past. We played as conspirators together with Ms. Pilar Pilapil in “Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan” which topbilled Claudine Barretto. I played the lawyer – Atty. Delgado whom Menandro (Jaime Fabregas) ordered to siphon out the money of Claudine. It was in 2002 and we were directed by Wenn Derramas and Andoy Ranay. We were both playing contravida in that telenovela.
This time in “May Bukas Pa” however, we are now playing the roles of priests. He is playing the Lead Priest in our Monastery. As Father Anthony, Jaime Fabregas is very effective. He is very “priestly”.
My interactions with Tito Jimmy as we fondly call him include casual conversations in between takes and during long stand by periods. He is very funny and who would not enjoy his antics everytime he speaks in his own “german” language?

OFFICIAL STATEMENT
MMK “BLUSA” ISSUE
——————————————————————————————————-
Storytelling in Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK) is always based on narratives sent to the program by people who want to share their stories. MMK decides to go into production of the chosen stories, ONLY after the letter sender has signed a waiver attesting to the authenticity of the story sent.
MMK recognizes that a number of UPLB alumni are questioning the truthfulness of one letter sender who claims that her sister, the main character in “Blusa” essayed by Ms. Angel Locsin, was indeed a UPLB BS AgriBusiness, summa cum laude graduate, who could not find a job and ended up as a stripper.
When MMK found out about the adverse reactions, the MMK production group went back to the letter sender to inform her of the issue raised and to re-verify her account. She reiterated that she stands by her story.
Be that as it may, and after careful deliberation, MMK realizes that its writing and research pool may have been remiss in one thing—-verifying with UPLB the veracity of the indicated facts of the letter sender. Having said that, MMK sincerely apologizes for the oversight.
MMK always aims for truth and excellence. This incident may have deviated from its tight norm, but rest assured that MMK will continue to serve its publics with utmost care and respect.
