“Robin Tolentino: Up CLose and Personal with Father Chris”

           He is the monastery’s official carpenter. As Father Chris, he was the one who acted as the foreman in the completion of the road in front of the church which was excavated but left behind by the contractor. But, in real life Robin Tolentino is a nurse by profession. He graduated nursing from Our Lady of Fatima and in the earlier months of our taping for May Bukas Pa, in between takes, he spent his idle time reviewing for the NCLEX. Robin finds acting as a passion aside from of course a good source of income aside from a fitness gym that he owns in Malabon.

             One time, I was so touched to see his mother joined us on the set during the taping. She accompanied Robin during the taping. In another instance, Robin gave each one of us a can of “patis” made in Malabon.

             There was one occasion that Robin joined me in my car in going home. He asked to be dropped off at the Balintawak area. Since it was very early in the morning about 5:50 a.m. I told him to be careful as he waited for his ride on EDSA to Malabon. But, in another occasion, after he texted me that he wanted to join me in going to the location in Bacolor, at the last minute, he decided to bring his own car since according to him it is very dangerous  to wait along EDSA at 12 midnight! 

            Robin told me that he had appeared as a suitor  of Claudine in “ Marina ” and in several bit roles in teleseryes. Of course, the break as one of the priests in “May Bukas Pa” is his biggest. But, compared to the rest of us, Robin is relatively a new face. There was an instance when after we appeared in ASAP ’09, Direk Jerome and Assistant Direk Carlo made fun of me that I really know how to position myself to look for my camera because as they said I got good exposure in ASAP ’09. So, the two directors were telling us that Robin should be undergoing a workshop with me to be able to look for his camera!

             During the thanksgiving party that was hosted by the ABS-CBN for the cast and the production staff held at the Bagoong Club, Robin attended the party with his beautiful girl friend who is working with Korea Air Line. The pair was so sweet that night! 

            We would surely miss Robin should he pursue with his plan to get employment as a nurse abroad as soon as he will pass the NCLEX! But, what ever will be his final decision, I am sure our chance to  work together with the rest of the “priests” and the other characters  of  “May Bukas Pa” will be in his memories.
