“When Bea Alonzo Guested in May Bukas Pa”

with Bea Alonzo

Among us regular cast of the top-rated teleserye “May Bukas Pa”, anticipation on who would be the next guest for the week is always full of excitement. Our only way of knowing who would be the next guest would come in the form of the text message for the calltime from Ms. Hazel Parfan. As we get our taping schedule, we would also learn the calltime of our new guest.

It goes without saying that I was personally excited when I read the calltime of the artists in the text message from Ms. Hazel that Bea Alonzo would be our guest last week.

I remembered that when the teleserye “ Maging Sino Ka Man” was then airing, I  received a text message from a Talent Supplier for me to appear in  a bit role in that show. However, I was not available then.

It was during the airing of “I Love Betty La Fea” that I finally had the chance to appear in a Bea Alonzo starrer. Unluckily, I did not have a scene with Bea in that teleserye. I played the role of a Philippine Embassy official in London who extended assistance to Ai Ai delas Alas (who played the role of Bea’s mother). All of my scenes were with Ai Ai.

That explained why I was very excited when I received the text message with the information that Bea would be our guest!

We were inside the church when finally Bea joined us for the first scene that we were supposed to tape. I told myself, the young lady was very tall, well, having a foreigner as parent is the reason for her height which I guess would be about 5 feet and 7 inches because she was as tall as myself. I also noticed that Bea was slimmer compared to her appearance when she was doing Betty La Fea. I said to myself, she has all what it takes to be a star!

Our first scene was taken in the ground floor of the church bell tower. Nash Aguas who acted as Bea Alonzo’s autistic ward was playing the church bells when we the priests hurriedly rushed to the bell tower to check why the bells were ringing. Bea quickly appeared to apologize for what Nash did. I must admit that I was starstrucked having worked for the first time with Bea. We had several scenes together.

During the lunch break, we invited her to join us at the convent since Father Jess invited us for lunch. I took the opportunity to have a photo taken with her while we were in the convent.

We were graced with Bea’s company for two taping days in the church and we were so lucky to have her as our guest. She was so pleasant to work with!  I personally hope to have another chance to work with her again in the future!

    Dear Mawie:

Thanks for visiting my blog. make it often. Bea and Nash started taping for MBP last August 18. They taped for three days. Nash is a very good actor. He was playing the role of an autistic child and I must admit that he acted very well. One thing good with Nash is he is so friendly and courteous with everyone. I am sure the guy will have a good future in the industry.
